Protect Our Neighbors: ICE Out of Minnesota

Picture

Stay Safe, Stay Informed, Be Grounded

NPA condemns the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and any and all actors forcibly separating families and communities. Because of who we are, we understand that this is wrong.

Separating families and taking children has long been a U.S. tactic to oppress, control, and terrorize Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. We have seen patterns of state violence in the U.S. with the Indian Boarding schools & child removal policies, and abroad in our own origins as transnational adoptees.

As adoptees, we understand intimately the devastating loss of being separated from relatives and whole communities. The trauma and harm echoes through generations and the land. Regardless of immigration status and history, we believe that everyone should be able to stay with their loved ones.
Our identities and experiences as transracial adoptees are complex. We may have partners, family members, coworkers, and friends who are dismissing the valid fear, anger, and grief we may be feeling at this moment. We may be in different places in owning our identities as immigrants and people of color. Know that you are not alone.

There are many organizations and individuals who are offering hope and action and we encourage our adoptee community to know your rights and build your network of support. NPA is here to be part of your web of resilience. Stay safe, be informed, be grounded, and get connected so that we can take care of ourselves and each other.

In solidarity,
